Can Good Wedding Photographs be Taken with Digital Cameras?

What would a wedding be without photographs; just how much would the bride and groom remember a few years later; professional digital wedding photographers are usually hired to ensure that memories of the day stay captured and ready to be looked at whenever the couple wants too. Couples often have a DVD made as well so that even more of the occasion is captured.

If you want to take photographs of your friend’s or relations wedding then you will have to do it on your own because you won’t have an assistant like the professionals have. This article highlights a few basic techniques and styles for anyone who wants to capture a friend or family members wedding using a digital camera.

If you only remember one piece of information from this article, remember to make sure that the photographs have a nice background as it is one of the first things you’ll notice when you look at them. Often the couple is in the thick of a crowd and at this point it may be easier to try and capture just their head and shoulders.

If there is bright sunlight or you are using flash, ask guests who are wearing glasses to remove them just for the shot or as an alternative they could turn their head slightly to the side. Although some interesting effects can be achieved when you take a picture of a subject with the light behind them this may not be the right occasion to experiment so make sure the light is behind you when you take your shot.

A zoom lens will often enable you to take pictures that would not otherwise be possible as people are not so conscious of their photo being taken. With digital wedding photography always remember to be ready for the shot as it saves people posing.

Digital cameras rely on two things, memory and power and the last thing you want when you take your shots is to run out of memory or for the batteries to die on you. Professional digital slr cameras start at 6 mega pixels and very few compacts are now below that so your card will need to be a minimum of one gigabyte to be on the safe side.

The higher the resolution you set the better the images will be and the larger they can be printed out. This is achieved by saving the images to your computer where you can print them out at your leisure on special photographic paper.

One of the biggest advantages of digital wedding photography is the ease with which the images can be viewed on anything from a computer monitor to a large flat screen TV.
