Planning a Wedding on a Small Budget

Friday, March 28th, 2008

There’s no doubt about it, weddings can be expensive; to put this into perspective, a regular wedding will cost as much as six months salary for an average worker on 50,000 dollars per year. It is understandable that many couples feel pressured into spending money they do not have but it really isn’t necessary; although you may not believe it now, a cheap wedding can be arranged which everyone will enjoy. Here are a few suggestions to help you save some money on the more expensive areas; meaning your special day is possible but without the high price tag.

A Used Bespoke Wedding Dresses

That hand-made wedding dress is going to be the most costly individual item; As the wedding dress has probably only been worn once anyway and you can get a once expensive dress for half the price; consider buying an evening gown or cocktail dress from a department store perhaps even look into renting your dress for the day.

Reception Costs

It is easy for couples to get swept up in the excitement and spend a small fortune on the reception; start planning your cheap wedding by looking at the number of guests you have attending. Reducing the number of people who attend, including distant relatives or friends you haven’t been in contact with for years, will help enormously; you can even carry out some of the catering yourself and have a hot and cold buffet style meal instead of a four courses.

To save on a costly wedding reception venue in a hotel, consider the alternatives; some people now arrange to hold them in a club house where they can place a set amount over the bar for certain beverages like beer, wine and soft drinks for the children.

The Wedding Photographs

Photographers are expensive but there is generally no need to hire one for the whole day; why not have your friends and relatives take pictures during the reception. You could, if you are brave, dispense with the services of a photographer completely; a friend or relative who is a keen photographer might be happy to do this for you!

Low Cost Personalized Invitations

It is also easy to save money on your wedding by designing and printing all your own stationery; with a good computer program and a home printer it is amazing how professional the results are these days. You may not feel comfortable using your home computer at first but this is a very productive use of your time; adjustments and corrections to suit your requirements can be made without any visits to the printers.

Flowers at the Wedding

Florists and flower arranging can be very expensive, especially for special occasions; why not buy them direct and arrange them yourself or enroll a friend to do this for you. If possible, try and get a friend to make your wedding cake for you; cakes do not have to be the traditional fruit so try a sponge cake with a chocolate flavor filling for example.

Wedding Cars and Limousines

Most people, when asked, feel proud if their car can be used as wedding transportation; it is surprising how impressive this can look when done properly.

It is possible to plan a cheap wedding without necessarily cutting back on the services; you can save money at the same time!

Ideas for Where to Hold a Wedding

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Whilst there are many interpretations of a wedding, generally speaking they are still a religious or legal union between two individuals; once the province of only a male/female relationship, changes to the law have made this concept obsolete. The ceremony is an opportunity to perform a traditional service and celebrate with friends and family. the marriage certificate must be signed at the end of the service for the law to legitimize the couple’s relationship. The names bridegroom and bride extend around the world; after the ceremony they are referred to as husband and wife.

Weddings in a Religious Building

Wedding traditions and customs vary greatly between cultures, ethnic groups, religions, countries, and social classes. Traditionally the church is the most popular venue, where the ceremony is presided over by a Christian priest. White weddings may be quite normal for those of us that live in the United States, UK, Ireland and the Commonwealth but they are not always accepted worldwide amongst Christian faiths.

Twin Ceremonies

A rare type of marriage is where two separate couples decide to marry at the same time; typically, a person with a brother or sister might plan this type of occasion with that sibling.

Foreign Resort Weddings

These days it is easy for couples to arrange a wedding in another country and have the guests travel to them with the honeymoon continuing afterwards; although the idea of a isolated island beach may be your idea of a destination wedding, it doesn’t actually mean you have to travel outside your own country.

Activity weekend Weddings

A weekend wedding is where couples and their guests celebrate over the course of a weekend. Those with a themed element can also be very successful and the activity can be either built into the day or over the course of a weekend. For many people that have outdoor interests this can be a lot of fun and the guests can stay for the weekend with them to extend the occasion.

Ceremonies Online

An online wedding is conducted on the internet which can resemble a normal ceremony; planning is made easy however, with online guides that list reliable and friendly vendors. This can prove a useful tool where relatives and friends from around the world can see an online wedding take place in real time without actually being there!

City Hall Weddings

Local civil authority services are called civil weddings as they do not take place in a church and must be performed by a locally elected or appointed official. For people that elect this type of ceremony it is not important to them if God or religion is referred to in such a brief service. Often, this type of service will take place in a judge’s chambers, town or city hall or any other specially designated place.

Reasons for Hair Loss in Women

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

Hair loss is even more distressing for women than it is for men.

There are many possible reasons for hair loss in women, including:

  • Braiding your hair too tightly
  • Attaching hair extensions that are too long and heavy
  • Onset of the menopause and the associated hormonal imbalance
  • Pregnancy and childbirth can cause hair loss due to hormone changes.
  • Adverse reaction to medication
  • Cancer treatment, such as chemotherapy
  • A poor diet can also cause hair loss if you are missing vital nutrients
  • Hereditary hair loss
  • Getting older increases the risk of hair loss as well.
  • Illness and disease (including conditions such as diabetes)
  • Scalp infections

Because women who suffer from hair loss usually conceal the problem with a wig or similar hair replacement system, many people do not realise quite how widespread the female hair loss problem actually is.

In fact, experts estimate that there are over 30 million in the USA alone who suffer from some form of hair loss.

No matter what the reason, losing your hair is a major blow to your self esteem and confidence, but fortunately there are now many treatments that can help resolve the problem.

The most important thing is to act as soon as you realise there is a problem. If your hair loss is caused by a hormone problem, then treatment can be easily provided and the hair loss reversed. If the problem is caused by other issues, then many of the treaments used by men can be equally as effective for women, eg. Minoxidil

If medical treatment can’t correct the problem then you may be able to conceal the problem with a new hairstyle, or if the problem is severe, a hairpiece, weave or a complete wig.
